Filiform needle
The filiform needle is one of the“nine needles”of the ancient China.It was also termed“minute needle”, “small needle”in ancient times because of its body being minuteness.The filiform needle is mainly applied at the transport acupoints of the whole body,so it is also called “body acupuncture”.
Moxibustion
The moxibustion technique, also called “jiuruo”,“gongfa”, and “huofa”, is a therapeutic method to persistently stimulate and scorch the skin with moxa fire.Moxibustion can not only treat diseases but also prevent them, e.g., moxibustion administered on Qihai, Guanyuan, Zusanli, etc. can cultivate and
supplement primordial qi, strengthen body constitution and prevent diseases.
Cupping
Cupping is a therapy in which a cup is attached to the skin surface by negative pressure caused by burning or air-absorbing method to treat diseases through the actions of the negative pressure or warming.
Nine needles, i.e., chisel needle, round needle, blunt needle, sharpedged needle, sword needle, round sharp needle, filiform needle, long needle, and large needle, are the nine different needling tools which originated at the bronze age and was carried out during iron age. The appearing of the nine needles made the transition of the needling tools from the non-metal needles to the metal needles, which was of epoch making significance.
